The Hip Hop Love Song

My hombre Nas Dawud and I joke about this all the time. We both can agree that Whodini's “One Love” set it all off when it comes to hip hop love songs. Lately, you don't hear them anymore unless folks like the Roots or Mos does it. Yet Black Thought holds it down with the most consistent joints. I am sure heads would debate that one.

"something special bout you"

Produced by: zmo
co-produced by pete twist
2003

My brother from another mother ZMO adds to the cipher. Without any disrespect or second class citizen status, ZMO discusses how a young lady blew his mind. No sex involved, just all straight building. As a matter of fact, he even shouts out Whodini. He gets 1,000 cool points for that alone.

The song is dope through and through and I can picture heads rocking it in their Hummers in the summer. Sisters watch out!

Stay tuned for the Challenge ... I will answer El Fin's request in one of his comments.

Yes, Whoodini was before "I Need Love" but it was LLs "I Need Love" that just slapped the needle off the record and opened up a can o worms and had people scratching there heads.

Yo what is a kid to do after "Rock the Bells", "I Cant Live Without my Radio", "Im Bad" and then wha? I Need Love??? I remember the time well... It was like going to the movies expecting The Good the Bad and the Ugly and they sneak Brokeback Mtn in on you. I felt cheated. It was terrible. You cant compare Whodini with that. Yo I Need Love sent shudders through NY. Nobody would admit they listend to it....more then once. When that that song dropped "I Need Love", it was right up there with Darth Vader telling Luke he was his father and Reagan being shot.
