Some folks I forgot...

There were quite a few folks I forgot (that's what i get for not outlining my entries before i post -- which reminds me, I need to post a blogging 101 like HumanityCritic ). So if you just logged on today (after 11:31am EST on Friday Sept. 23rd), please scroll down to see the rest of the list...

My man Nas Dawud -- I am thankful that I know him personally. His blog is pretty dope (even though he has not posted in awhile). We are in the same Zulu Nation chapter and only get to build during work (like community work, not working for the man work). He is a cool cat and funny in his own way (plus i envy his library).

My man Tim Siebles (who needs a website and i have a dope story down below) -- I run into him all through Norfolk and we end up just building. He is a professor, writer and poet with several books out. He is mad down to earth and dependable.

If i forget anyone else, I will put on some other day...

Tim Siebles, gangstas, poets and bookstores...

Waiting on the health food store to open so that i can get my deodorant au natural, i walked throught Ghent to a new book store that opened up in the Spring. Its called Broad Street Books. It was my first time in there and i found it to be mad cozy. I saw Professor Igloria (another poet/professor from ODU) and then ran into Tim Siebles. I know I talk about him all the time. He is a real cool cat. I consider him a para-intellectual. He is dependable and easy to build with. He is in his early 50s (I think) and hails from Philly.

We chopped it up and suggested books to each other (hey my beautiful wife, I got you a Paulo Coelho book). We began talking about author's head shots in the back of their books. I joked how Tim be looking gangsta in his head shots. he doubted me. So we looked at all of his joints and sure enough, almost all of them he looked like he finished kicking someone's tail. Mind you Tim Siebles is like 6'4" and like 275 and some change so he looks intimidating. His booming voice doesn't help. So he looks menancing in all of his pics. Of course, I joked him to life about it.

BUt currently he is on leave from work as a professor and he is doing his thing. He is focusing on his writing and just kicking ass (not to mention playing tennis -- just imagine a 6'4" 275 pound brother from philly playing tennis).

Stay cool man.
