PANAMA CITY (Reuters) - Miss Dominican Republic Amelia Vega, an 18-year-old high school student, has won the Miss Universe 2003 title at a sparkling ceremony in Panama City, beating a field of 70 other pageant queens with her charm and charisma.
It was the first time a contestant from the Dominican Republic, a Spanish-speaking country that shares an island in the Caribbean with impoverished Haiti, was crowned Miss Universe.

first things first:

(she may kill me for this) my wife is right! she sure is! i said it! i have this bad habit of walking around when i am on the phone. i need to stop doing that. (now some of my peoples can picture me walking around using the phone all around la casa...) i have to stop it. i do it at the office as well. i mean it probably is no big deal, but i want to just sit and relax while i am on the phone. i guess i can stay still for too long. i will work on it, star!

Sammy Sosa got caught corking his bat. okay okay okay, there are bigger issues to deal with in this world, i admit. and i don't watch sports anymore
(since 1999...sorry ladies i am married). but it's just that like I Self, he is a quisqueyano. so i gotta look out. okay , he puts "native american" on his applications (i know he looks like Uncle Leroy to some of ya'll and me too...). but still he is a hero to many in my mother's native country. despite all this, he holds it down. he gives money to poor people in the Dominican Republic and he is an economic ambassador for them (us). so i got to give it to him. he provides hope for many youngbloods down there and
here. so i got to big him up. you still down with me man. word up. if that means anything.

pick up the latest issue of One WOrld with Ali G on the cover. they got a nice piece on saul williams. he is coming out with a new joint. word. it's called, "...says the shotgun pointing at your head" it sounds incredible already. he killed it on Def poetry jam a few weeks back. man it's June and we are still wearing jackets. I tell my wife all the time, summer ain't coming. she is now using my line "don't call it out to the universe.." ironic isn't it?

When you get the chance, PLEASE see the Martha Steward story.. yo, i never really felt her but after watching this, i have to give her props as a business woman. she took something she did really well, making stuff at home, and made it a business. she was able to sell her stuff using other people's money and netting most of the profits. she was able to take a $83 million dollar debt and parlay it to a $1 billion dollar empire. YOU DO THE EFFIN' MATH...!! now, yeah she is ruthless and loves to insult people. she ran her marriage to the ground. she was probably hell to live with but you got to give her props. a woman who ran ish. yeah she is an exploiter to like
all capitalists, but you got to give it to her hands down. i find what is happening to her now as bad karma. she treated alot of people badly and now things are looking grim, but she changed the way house wives do things. she help make things easier for them and alot more tastier for the menfolk. i can bear witness to that.

OH YEAH, if you do ANYTHING ELSE. ANYTHING ELSE, i mean it. GO SEE ANTWONE FISHER. it is in the video stores now. my wife and i regret that we did not
get the chance to see it in the theatres. so i will purchase the DVD. it was great. a real tear jerker. i was crying ya'll. it was well written and the cast was excellent. Denzel Washington and his crew took alot of chances on the cast. but it worked out. I will get the book. fisher was on point and he really turned himself around. he refused to become a part of his enviroment but he needed support. the ending is beautiful. I dug the fact that Washington did not hog the spotlight. he was sort of in the background
but vital to the plot. which i am sure was how it was in real life. i give Denzel props for that. he could have easily let it be a movie with just him doing his thing. he is a phenomenal actor. i find him to be one of the top 5 actors in hollywood BLACK OR WHITE. i mean just watching him in CRIMSON TIDE alongside Gene Hackman and he OUTSHINED HIM easily.then again despite TRAINING DAY, when was Denzel Washington in a bad movie. I hear alot of people say that MISSISSIPPI MASALA was wack but i enjoyed it. Charles Dutton was in that he shined. he threw me off but he shined. but for real, check the movie. you will not be dissappointed. it is worth
it. you will learn alot. it makes you grateful for everything you have cause it could have been worse. it's one of those things where you think you have it bad but you really don't. there are always those less fortunate then you are...
